Welcome to DSWA’s Curbside Recycling Program for ALL Delaware residents! This program offers curbside pick-up of your recyclables. Residents signing up for curbside recycling will receive a 65-gallon cart on wheels. Using this one cart system means cans and bottles can be recycled together with newspaper, cardboard and many other recyclables. There is no need to separate any material that goes into the cart.

Once you’ve signed up, you’ll receive a 65-gallon cart on wheels and there will be a pick-up every other week at $6.00 a month.

Dear Valued New Castle County Yard Waste Customer,

The Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA) has been pleased to provide New Castle County residents with curbside yard waste collection services for the past several years. In June of this year, a new “Universal Recycling Law” was passed which requires licensed trash haulers to provide recycling services for their customers. Consequently, it also requires DSWA to cease its curbside recycling collection programs. Therefore, effective DECEMBER 31, 2010, DSWA will no longer be collecting yard waste material (grass, leaves, sticks, etc.) from residents in New Castle County.

DSWA recommends you contract your licensed trash hauler for yard waste service. Currently, most trash collection companies in New Castle County offer this service. In addition, the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) offers certain location in New Castle County for residents to drop-off yard waste at no-charge. For more information about the DNREC drop-off locations please call 302-739-9403 or visit www.dnrec.delaware.gov/yardwaste.

Please be advised that you may continue to order yard waste stickers from DSWA up until December 1, 2010; however, all stickers much be used by December 31, 2010.

Thank you for supporting DSWA’s yard waste recycling program. Additional information on yard waste recycling and licensed trash haulers may be obtained on DSWA’s website at www.dswa.com or call DSWA’s Citizens’ Response Line at 1-800-404-7080. We wish you the greatest success with your recycling endeavors in the future.

Sincerely,
Rich Von Stetten
Sr. Manager of Statewide Recycling
